Investigating the environmental effect of globalization: Insights from selected industrialized countries

Abstract Despite the burgeoning literature on globalization-environmental degradation nexus, this area of empirical interest is still riddled with ambiguity. Thus, based an extended Stochastic Impacts by Regression Population, Affluence and Technology (STIRPAT) model, we re-investigate effect globalization environmental for 27 selected industrialized countries over period 1991–2016. More specifically, shed light into how overall its various components – economic, social political affect degradation. We advance existing considering a measurement approach which disaggregates overall, their de facto jure aspects. Using augmented mean group estimator, find that economic reduce while do not exert any significant globalization. With respect to aspects, observe that, only mitigates degradation, also dampen provide some policy implications in end.
